 Carla,
Is there going to be a Mouthwatering Recipe topic for tomorrow?  I sure hope so.  A favorite Thanksgiving recipe would be fun.  Tell Brenda hello and we miss her.   Millie

Good morning to everyone!
I know I don't post often on this thread because I am always in such a hurry to get out the door.  But today I am staying home and there is a bit of procrastination going on here... I have a paper to write for my sociology online class and am putting it off...  the subject is and I quote - 2 out of 3 impoverished adults in the US are women.  While women are victims of chronic poverty, others are among the "new poor" and event driven poverty.  What does society owe to the children of the poor citizens who have not chosen to be poor but are nevertheless saddled with disadvantaged class status?
OMG - I am not sure where I will start, but have some ideas for the middle... at any rate I am being a procrastinator....

So I am at home and plan to stay here to get this and other things done.  A friend on the NC board had WLS on Friday and I feel very close to her and her husband - like a sister and brother to me.  So I have spent several hours of the last couple of days at the hospital so that Allen could leave and take care of things, etc.  And it feels good to be home.  I will do some cooking to prepare for the week of work.  I did get the refrigerator cleaned out.  And that may be all the housework I do today !  LOL

Take care and be safe.

Good morning all, just a quick hello,

Have lots to do today. Our daughter starts her new job tomorrow, kind of a drive away but the pay is good.  We'll have more time spent caring for our granddaughters which is my favorite thing to do anyway.  The youngest, Samantha, got her first pair of glasses yesterday, she is only 4 and they had to do special tests to figure out her vision. Turns out it is as poor as mine...poor baby.  20/100 in one eye and 20/200 in the other.  No wonder she is having trouble in preschool learning her letters, she can't see them.

Have a blessed day, hugs, Paulette

Hi All!

We are still on our little trip and the weather is great.   We fly out of New Orleans for Detroit and are not looking forward to it.    The weather report looks like we will be coming home to snow and cold.

This is the first time my in-laws  have seen me since surgery so it's been a fun trip.

Most of my husbands family is coming over today for seafood gumbo since we leave tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a good week.

Hi George and my OFF family:

It's bright and sunny here in West Michigan, but very cold. At least it's not snowing, so I'm happy. We had such a slow news night last night, I thought we all were going to fall asleep. Nothing happened world, nation, local ... it was dead! The big local news was the Santa Claus parades. We had all our local stuff in by 5 p.m. The metro editor was able to go home at that time. I don't know if I've ever seen such a dead night. Sports crew ordered Chinese food, so I have extra food ... but today I'm making my Thanksgiving feast since I'm working Thursday night. This way, I'll have some today, some Thursday. It would be too rushed to make it Thursday and eat and be able to rest up and go into work (I think I have to be there by 4 p.m.) I'm making turkey wings (my favorite part of the bird), Stovetop stuffing, gravy, homemade cranberry sauce with Splenda, cranberry bread ... and I have a single serve pecan pie (I hate pumpkin pie!) for later after the food settles. If I try to have dessert too soon, dinner comes up. I've learned that.

I'm also going to make homemade kahlua for my brother Gary for Christmas, so I need to start that today, because it needs to sit for a month ... it won't be quite done by the time I see him, but he'll have to strain a little. It's pretty good ... not quite the same as store-bought but not bad.

Paulette and her hubby, Earl, were up here yesterday bringing my new used lift recliner ... oh, it's so nice ... it has heat and massage too. Paulette and Earl, thank you so much! I can't tell you how much I appreciate this. Scooter is still kind of spooked when the chair moves, but he likes to sit in it.

I know now for sure what cat is pooping outside the box ... it's Diva. I saw her do it last night. But the vet said she was fine, so I don't know what to do, other than try some fiber in her diet. I'm going to call the vet tomorrow to see about that. I still think maybe Scooter is losing weight, though, and needs to see the vet before I have my surgery.

Otherwise, today is laundry, football, reading, catching up with friends. Tomorrow is busy ... I have two doctors' appointments, and then I'm going to have lunch with Mary Kay before work ... I'm not going to come home because it's all on the same side of town and it's stupid to drive all the way home two hours before work. I'm still on the $4 a gallon gas mentality. I may check out a couple of stores on that side of town that I've wanted to see for some stuff, maybe do some Christmas shopping.

Well, that's all for now. I need to get that cranberry bread going. Have a good day.

Today started lazy for me. DH was playing golf so I slept late. The dogs were so snuggly and warm instead of getting up a read. I napped and read until DH got home around noon! Finished getting the T-Day groceries at the farmers market yesterday although I'll be doing very little cooking. It's just DH and I so I only got a quarter Honeybaked ham. One of DH's venders is giving him a smoked turkey so the meat is taken care of. We have a Mom & Pop restaurant near us that makes dressing almost as good as Mothers and WAY better than mine so I ordered dressing, yams and brocoli cassarole from her this year. All I have to do this year is bake the rolls and dump the can of cranberry sauce onto a plate. You know it has to be the canned stuff with the can ridges!  LOL! The rest of my day was spent doing some machine embroidery, working on Christmas gifts. I listened while DH watched TV.
We had some nice, cool weather last week but it's warmed up today. I'm so ready for cold weather! This humid, 80's weather at the end of Nov. needs to go away!
